THE SPRING WE STAYED IN: A Virtual Art Exhibition
At the Children’s Arts Guild, we believe that all children need opportunities to tell their stories and explore and develop their authentic selves. Now, more than ever, we want to give children an opportunity to express their authentic experiences and process what it means to live through this challenging time. So this year, we invited children from across the country to create an art piece about “The Spring We Stayed In.” We asked children:
During the Spring We Stayed In:
What have you been thinking about?
How have you been spending your time?
How are you keeping in touch with your friends?
What comforts you?
What are you hopeful for?
We have received vulnerable, honest, and illuminating art from a wide range of students across the country. Take a look.
*It is clear to us that processing the impact of “The Spring We Stayed In” on our children will be an important ongoing task. For that reason, we will accepting submissions on a rolling basis HERE. All children and families are welcome.

My art piece represents my imagination. These past two months have been very complicated. I lost my self and began to think about my past life, which is how i have been spending my time during quarantine. This piece represents what I want for myself and how i want my future to be, colorful, fun, and lastly perfect for me. I am currently very happy with who i am but i felt the need to express what was on my mind during these months.

Over Quarantine I have been having a hard time accepting the fact that this is how my Journey at St. Barnabas will end. The Photo is supposed to show how Graduation and the Class of 2020 (Graduation Cap) is affected by the coronavirus (mask). I also played around with the colors and different settings that can give the photo depth and color.

Kusudama, (modular origami) is a passion that I've been pursuing for years. These are some examples that I've made since returning home from college.

Rowen is a first grader at Wakefield Elementary School. She adores art and loves to create. One of her distance learning lessons from her art teacher, Mrs. Mayo, was to create a butterfly with symmetry out of things found in nature! Rowen was especially proud of this beautiful butterfly that she created!

This is the Positivity Poster. It spreads love and awareness about the LGBTQ+ community. I was inspired to create this when my friend declared her sexuality and got a lot of hate. People need to understand that its their life, not yours. Love is Love. Periodt.
